All Format Writer - Create PDF & DOCX Documents DIRECTLY on the Phone

The lastest application I’ve come across from him is All-Format Writer a freeware Java J2ME-based application that allows you to create and send out short and simple documents on the mobile phone in various competing ‘next-generation’ electronic document formats. These include OpenDocument Format (ODT), Microsoft’s Office Open XML (DOCX), China’s national electronic document format Unified Office Format (UOF) and the popular Portable Document Format (PDF).

Most Nokia smartphones ship with inbuilt document viewers and this freeware will allow us to create documents on the fly too. Although this does not give us the ability to edit documents but the power of creating PDF’s on the go is nice to have.

Usage - As this application writes files to the removable storage, user permission is required. On the Nokia phones, the messages prompted will be “Allow application All-Format Writer to read user data?”, followed by “Allow application All-Format Writer to write user data?”. On the Sony Ericsson phones, the messages prompted will be “Allow application to read user data?” and “Allow application to write user data?”. Please select “Yes” in all the above instances.

Also the new “rotateMe v2.1″ version has the nice main menu. The entry “rotateMe v2.2″ seems to be false since it is written different into the “About Me” page.

As a little reminder, “rotateMe v2.1″ differs from the already public version “rotateMe v2.0″ by supporting an 180° degrees rotation mode which is supported by the N95 and N95 8GB in the newest firmware versions. Nokia implemented this mode because of the new N-Gage application. That means that this version of “rotateMe” won’t work with older firmwares.

The only new feature: the user can choose to make “rotateMe” only work in the gallery. A nice idea, because I think that many users love to use auto rotation (only) in the gallery and to automatically switch it off is pretty useful for them.
If this feature will be fancied by people, Samir plans to implement a list of all applications installed on the phone to make the user choose in which application auto rotation shall be activated.

Ever wished for Final Fantasy to go mobile? Well, that may or may not happen, thanks to developers Big Blue Bulle. Their game, Elven Chronicles, does have a similar feel to Final Fantasy but I'll let you be the judge of that. You play the role of Rogan, a knight in search of his forgotten past, who is accompanied by Jada, an elf caster. The story is a bit vague in the beginning, however, as you level up and interact with other NPCs, you soon find yourself engaged in an epic struggle between good and evil.

You might be asking yourself as to why did I link Elven Chronicles to Final Fantasy? That’s because the battle system - Elven Chronicles does somewhat mimic Final Fantasy's well-known battle system. You start off by seeing yourself, or rather your character, and you are able to control him, walk around and communicate with non playable characters, obtain quests, and buy items and weapons. However, the moment your character comes into contact with an enemy, represented by what seems to be a spinning tornado, you enter a battle screen with your characters Rogan and Jada on one side, and the enemy on the other. The number of enemies as well as the type and their levels are random, though you can make a guess by looking at the tornado before you engage it. Different colours represent different enemy difficulty. Fighting and damage turn based, with you choosing your actions, whether to attack, cast magic, heal or attempt to retreat. Enemy monsters then make their actions, and then it’s back to your turn. The downside of this battle style is that it can sometimes lead to a game of attrition, and many games of this can sometimes be boring. You can customize your hero by purchasing weapons and items, however, that’s almost as far as it goes. Although you can level up by killing monsters and gaining experience, there’s no way for you to customize your character’s abilities, skills or spells. As you level up, such things are given to you - but everything has been hard-coded so there is a lack of random items. This will of course limits replayability, although the drops from enemies are random, these are rare and few. The good part is, all enemies respawn.

Elven Chronicles does well in music as well as graphics. The game starts with a pretty impressive menu and theme song, which immediately gets you in the mood to play the game. The same music continues while you’re actually playing the game, though while adventuring and fighting monsters, a different theme comes on. All the songs are pretty good stuff, original, and very well composed one might say. As for graphics, the game scores well as well, with bright colours well used, as well as variety in objects. It’s pretty easy to determine what you’re looking at, unlike some games where you have to practically squint and even then, guess what you’re looking at. The game is sort of anime like, that is much like the Japanese cartoons you see in the television.

Elven Chronicles is definitely a must try game for sure for all RPG fans. Although it would not probably score well in the replayability section, the game is certainly fun while it lasts, especially for hack and slash RPG lovers.

Controls

Use button «5» or fire to flip the tiles. Left or right soft key – exit to main menu.

As you start the game the tiles are placed face down on the screen. Moving the hand-shaped cursor over a tile and using «5» button you can flip a tile to see its image. If the images on the two last flipped tiles match, the player receives points. If the images do not match – the tiles flip over again. The game ends when all the tiles are correctly face up. If you match several pairs in a row, your score is multiplied.

Playing 'Sly' mode you have to find all the matching tiles with a limited number of attempts. With every mistake the indicator in upper part of the screen reduces. When it fades completely – you lose a life. During the butterfly flight the indicator does not drop.
The 'Agile' mode is timed! The indicator in the upper part of the screen is constantly reducing. You have to match all the tile pairs before it fades completely. Once you find a pair you get some extra time. If the time runs out, you lose a life. During the butterfly flight the indicator does not drop.

Playing the 'Smart' mode you have to score as many points as possible. Time, number of attempts and lives do not matter. When you match a pair, you receive as many points as it is shown in the center of the screen. With every failed attempt this number reduces and the indicator drops a bit. When you match a pair successfully, all the remaining segments of indicator are converted into the score, then the indicator restores fully.During the butterfly flight the indicator does not drop.

Be careful! Mismatching tiles draws the end of the game nearer!

User Guide:

Lists and Correspondents

You can create as many lists as you need and activate the one that suits your current situation.

Only one list can be activated at one time. You can activate/deactivate any list using "Activate/Deactivate" commands. Currently active list is marked with . If no list is active then the service will perform no call filtering action.

There are 2 types of lists:

* Black list. If activated it will reject only the correspondents listed in this list.
* White list. If activated it will accept the correspondents listed in this list only and will reject everyone else.

Hint:
- Empty "white list" - will reject all incoming calls.
- Empty "black list" - will accept all calls.

You can add as many correspondents as you need to every list.

* Contact. You can select contacts from your contacts book. All phone numbers that the contact has will be blocked or accepted (depends on the list type)
* Group. You can select groups of contacts from your contacts book. All contacts that the group has and all their phone numbers will be blocked or accepted (depends on the list type)
* Phone number. Type here any custom phone number.
* Unrecognised number. Represents all callers who hide their phone number or their phone number were not recognised by network.

When you finish setup you can turn the service ON to start filtering all incoming calls. When the service is ON BlackList configuration application is no longer needed and you can close it in order not to waste the memory and resources, the service will stay in memory and will do all job.

When service is activated you can see brief status of service activity in application status line. Like "Rejected 3 / 4" - means 3 calls have been automatically rejected from 4 total incoming calls.

Please note: service activating could take some time (some seconds) as it has to prepare and organise all your data (fetch all phone numbers from listed contacts/groups of contacts, etc) to be able to analyse incoming phone number during a call in real time.

Scheduler
Scheduler is a very useful function of BlackList application that can switch your lists automatically based on defined time schedule. For example Scheduler can block all calls every day after 23:00 except the ones from very close family members, at 9:00 it can allow everyone to call you except some numbers you have blacklisted. During working days when you are on working place it can allow only "work" calls, etc

You can create as many scheduler "rules" as you want. If you don't want some rule to be enabled you can disable it (without deleting it) and when next time you need it you can enable it again (no need to create it again).

Call forwarding
Imagine the situation you are on business conference and want to accept some "work" calls only and don't want to be disturbed with the rest of calls. But you don't want to lose them! You can manage such situation easily with BlackList application. Just set up BlackList to accept needed calls only and use Phone built in "Call divert" options. To reach "Call divert" options, please start the system application "Settings" and select "Call divert" item here. This command allows you to configure Call forwarding service of your network operator directly from the application. Turn "Divert if busy" ON and set up here your secretary/voice mail/etc phone number and your network operator will automatically forward callers rejected by BlackList application to the specified number.

Handy log
You can always take a look what numbers were rejected by the application. To see rejected calls log select "View log" command from menu. Here you will be able to see all such calls sorted by time and call back the rejected caller from this view.

Frequently asked questions

1. When a blacklisted call comes in it goes to my voice mail. Can it just be rejected only?

* Yes. If rejected call goes to voice mail it means your network provider re-directs the caller to your voice mail when receiving busy signal from your phone . Some providers set this behaviour on default when you buy a phone. But you can change this behaviour directly from your phone: Start system application "Settings" and select "Call divert" command here. Select "If busy" item and than cancel divert command.

Wireless Presenter utilises Bluetooth on the smartphone to manage a Power Point presentation from a distance, while simultaneously displaying notes on the smartphone screen.

The application counts time from the start to control the total duration of the speech, helping to make it brief and concise. It also shows the time of viewing the current slide. More experienced users can customize application settings such as color depth, mouse speed or keyboard layout to adjust them to their individual requirements.

The keyboard layout option gives the user the possibility to dedicate certain keys to various types of software i.e. Media Player or Internet Explorer and allows to control them from a distance. Another interesting function enables the user to see on PC what is happening on the phone's screen. It is useful if someone would like to show the smartphone features, some interesting content or possibilities of any application to wider audience.

The application satisfies the demand for efficient and easy to use smartphone tool. It does not need any additional software installed on PC. It is enough if the computer is equipped with Windows OS and Bluetooth.

I have told you yesterday that I was honoured by Keynetik to receive RockNScroll as one of very few elected people to have a look at it even before the public release.
It is clear for me to present you all the features of this amazing application in this large preview and I really hope to succeed in fulfilling the quality of this application.
Dont care if you dont know anything about RockNScroll, I will start completely from the beginning.

What the Application is about

Accelerometer technology is currently amazing most of the users of current Nseries phones. The amount of available new concepts and new applications isnt stopping.
The most famous developer of accelerometer using applications, Samir, has started the wave of accelerometer application with rotateMe, a wave which didnt stop till now and wont stop so soon.

Samirs next project was Nokmote, the first application which brought motion input to S60 devices. Nokmote was actually developed for playing games and was simply too sensitive to work satisfying for menu navigation.

Shortly after its release, a video occurred on YouTube showing an application you could mistake as a Nokmote copy. However, only a little deeper glance showed that RockNScroll developed by the worlds leading motion input enterprise, Keynetik, is everything else than that.

RockNScroll is a single sensor based application providing motion input to latest Nseries phones like the N82, N95, N95 8GB and also the coming N96. That means you can control your phone only with movements without pressing any key, providing access to nearly all functions of an S60 phone.

The application is not only thought for menu navigation; it offers also a gaming mode bringing new gaming experiences in a similar way like Nokmote. Of course this is just a little extract of what this powerful software can do. Read on to discover more about its other features.

RockNScroll gives you the possibility to navigate in the menus of your accelerometer supporting Nokia device by using different gestures. With little flicks of your wrist in the corresponding direction, you are able to move the cursor right and left, up and down.

Menu navigation consists of course not only of moving the cursor. RockNScroll supports a Push gesture which is used to confirm a selection and a Pull gesture for back or exit command. As you can see, Keynetik thought about all necessary possibilities to make menu navigation as comfortable as possible. It didnt work with Nokmote like this, not only because of the high sensitivity, but also because of the lack of a Back gesture.

While navigating, you can hold the device in nearly every angle you like; the application adjusts itself to the phones position. Also an advantage in comparison to Nokmote which worked only in a certain angle.

1. Up/Down/Left/Right tilt gestures to emulate single press on navigation pad. Will be operable in any orientation (portrait/landscape) and any position (horizontal/vertical/in between) as shown in the video. Good for menus and some games.
2. Some noise filtering. It won't be totally immune to interference, but it will be usable while in motion (walking, driving, etc.)
3. Adjustable sensitivity levels
4. Scroll mode: Tilt (same as 1) and hold for scrolling to emulate press and hold on nav pad. Good for phone books, media player, etc.
5. Game mode: Orientation and position specific based on device tilt and angle. Meaning you will have to hold in horizontally at 0 angle in landscape orientation. Good for at home gaming.
6. Screen rotation: Rotating device from portrait to landscape.
